Premature Spring Wedge

Opal Leather Wedge Sandals, Diane Von Furstenburg at (£260)
Wicker Tan Wooden Wedges, Topshop (£65)

Although I still feel that we are in the middle of winter and boots are far more apt than anything that reveals a millimetre of skin, as I was browsing the other day, I came across some amazing wedges which I feel will disappear from the shelves very quickly.

Height- the platform at the front makes the heel a lot less high, so don't let that put you off.

Colour- extremely versatile and can be worn with almost anything. Nude shoes are also perfect for elongating the leg.

Style- classic design which will last for springs and summers to come, as well as fitting in perfectly with the 70s trend of the moment.

Material- 100% leather upper so will mould softly to your feet as well as being breathable for warm summers days. Contrasting wooden heel, particularly love the architectural design of the DVF's.

Whether you have hundreds and can afford the Fendi's or DVF's or tens and can afford the Topshop's, this is definitely a style worth buying into.

Capture the Moment

Whilst last week Paris played host to Fashion Shows previewing Menswear Autumn / Winter 2011, and the week before, Milan, today Paris are opening their gates to welcome the Haute Couture Collections for Spring / Summer 2011.

One of my favourite "photobloggers", Tommy Ton, has been out and about on the streets capturing the best of international styles. Here are a few of his enticing images from the fashion capitals.

Breath of Fresh Air

Polka Dot Satin Twill Sandals, Miu Miu (£295)

Spring / Summer 2011 is approaching thick and fast with trends from the 70s... retro platforms and wedges are back - whether it's polka dots, stripes, florals or just plain leather.

In my opinion, Miu Miu have hit the nail on the head with the this trend. The incredible pea green colour with white polka dots is rich, vibrant and fresh. Dressed up or down, they can be paired with high waisted flares, skinny jeans or A-line skirt / dress and some letterbox red or tangerine nail varnish you will be bang on the 70s style.

A breath of fresh air from thick skies and freezing temperatures!

Ballet Pumps with Skull and Bones, The Kooples (£165 to £99)
Buckled Patent Leather Ankle Boots, Vivienne Westwood (£515 to £360.50)
Sonny Peep Toed Cage Boot, Reiss (£189 to £75)
Stitched Leather Peep Toe Pumps, Alexander McQueen (£680 to £408)

Whilst the sales in the UK have been going on for a good couple of weeks (some even starting at midnight on Christmas Day - eurgh - if not before) the Parisians take a more traditional approach. Not only do their sales not commence until tomorrow, there is a written law that they don't start before this date, and they only happen twice a year. I thought I would draw up a few of my favourite picks from the sales - home and away - before Spring / Summer 2011 gets underway (can't wait for a bit of colour!)!
