Commuting Kicks

I have a slight phobia of white trainers with work wear. Whilst I do think it's a great idea not to wear your heels, brogues, ballet pumps, boots etc whilst walking to work, a white trainer does no office wear  any justice - whether you're a guy or a gal. I've done it on one occasion and hated it so much, I vowed I would never do it again.

I walk at least an hour every day - from my flat to the tube, the tube to my office, and then the return journey. Working for a shoe company, I often (if ever) don't wear the most supportive and suitable footwear... the thought of MBTs makes me vom a little, and I wouldn't be caught dead in anything like an Ecco shoe, or a Camper trainer. However, over the last few months, my feet have given me quite a lot of pain, whilst I've been trying to solve it by wearing Converse instead of heels/ boots/ pumps on my commute, they really haven't been working, and this past week was the icing on the cake.

Sports is a massive trend at the moment, whether it's the wedge trainer, some New Balance trainers with a mini skirt or Nike Blazers with a dress... so there is masses on the market to choose from in terms of comfort, support yet still being stylish. I wasn't bothered about a pair for running in, it was purely for walking to and from work, and mincing around at the weekends.

And so to Nike Town....

If you head to there, the staff whack you on a tread mill to see how you walk, and then choose you some treads according to your needs. All I really wanted was a pair that were anything but white, something supportive yet something cool at the same time... there was masses to choose from and I was pretty happy with the ones that I ended up with. So much so, I'm actually quite excited about my commute tomorrow morning! They weren't cheap, but knowing how much I will wear them, I know it's worth it.

Victoria Secrets feat. Nicholas Kirkwood

Possibly the most talked about and anticipated shows in the style world happened last week in New York... the Victoria Secret's Show 2012.

Based on the theme 'Dangerous Liaisons', 'Circus' and 'Bloom', 65 different looks and 28 sets of wings were strutted down the catwalk. There aren't many people that could out-shine Rhianna as the entertainment, but Brazilian beauty Alessandro Ambrosio in a £2.5million bra did, in fact they all did.

Whilst I was drooling over Miranda Kerr's bod as much as the next person, I was also enraptured by the shoes. Nicholas Kirkwood nailed them. Where else would you want your shoes, but gracing the feet of the super-human brigade - the Angels?

Glitter, lace, leaves, thigh-highs and sports were amongst just a few themes and I would love them ALL in my wardrobe.

Untitled.

I love this picture. I took it at an exhibition I went to when I lived in Paris.

To me, it shows the most glamorous, beautiful and opulent girl stuck inside, with so much ahead of her, yet slightly fed up with life and wondering where she's going.

SPORTS CHIC

Sports has been an on going trend for the last couple of seaons and it's only getting bigger at the moment. I feel it's going to be around till at least the end of next summer. This is my favourite sports luxe look from LFW.

LFW: Style Crush

Spotted this stylish chica outside Somerset House during Fashion Week - literally fell in love with what she was wearing, SO super cool. Love the camo jacket with the statement red bag, the statement neon jewellery, the sunglasses... it just works, pretty bloody well.

Fringed Booties

I saw these boots on someone at Fashion Week, I absolutely love them but automatically thought they were Isabel Marant (my french designer crush), and that they would be wayyyy out of my price bracket, howeverrrrrr I was wandering the shops the other day and found them to be Zara.

Zara are doing phenomenally well at the moment, not only do they have the most amazing supply chain which enables them to get products from the design board and into shops within 2 weeks, their products are made out of great quality fabrics, at reasonable prices and they take lotsss of inspiration from 'of the moment' designers and hot styles. These boots are just one example.

Ms. Anna Wintour Opening Rag & Bone, London

For me, this past London Fashion Week kicked off with Anna Wintour smashing a bottle against the outside of the new Rag & Bone store in Sloane Square, London.

I've met Anna Wintour once before at Wimbledon, I was a mere waitress and she was sitting in the VIP seats of Centre Court for the men's finals. I was in oar of her then, and then standing about half a foot away from her, 2 years on, I still am. She was smiling ear to ear (surprisingly!), and with over 20 or so photographer's screaming her name, she posed gracefully to everyone - including me.

Happy way to kick off the week!

Make A Statement

I'm a massive fan of statement jewellery - either jazzing up a grey marl or a white shirt with a bejewelled necklace, covering up my arms with a big cuff, or accessorising my long fingers with a knuckleduster or two.

If money were no object, Tom Binn's and Bex Rox's jewels would be dripping of every inch of my body. I LOVE their work - it's the contrast of the brights and neon threads with jewels and metal chaining that's so great. You can be wearing the most simple outfit, but with one of their items, you need no more.

Tom Binn's at Net-a-Porter.com - £280

Tom Binn's at Net-a-Porter.com - £325

Tom Binn's at Net-a-Porter.com - £225

 Fluro Bracelet - Bex Rox - £145

Jesse Cuff in Burgundy - Bex Rox - £243

Art Deco Rose Gold Collar - Bex Rox - £350

Although the above are a little out of my price range, H & M and Zara have some amazing pieces, which in my books, make just the statement, without the price tag:

Earrings - £5.99 H&M

Bracelet - £7.99 H&M

Bracelets - £15.99 Zara

Necklace - £19.99 Zara

Necklace - £19.99 Zara

Necklace - £29.99 Zara
