MUST SEE: Valentino: Master of Couture

Not many exhibitions make me speechless, but this was one of them.

I had been looking forward to the opening of Valentino: Master of Couture, and it was noooo disappointment.

The opening room, full of invitations to shows, hand written letters to Valentino from some of the top names in the fashion world, was incredible. Not only their elaborate hand writing, but their incredible stationery. It reminded me of when I was doing an internship at Anya Hindmarch, and I had to go into her stationary cupboard to find a compliments slip, and I took a sheet of her paper and an envelope, and wrote home saying that one day my name would be on stationery like that! It was absolutely beautiful.

Upstairs there was a 'catwalk' of dresses worn by the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy to Julia Roberts. One particular dress that caught my eye was designed in the 1950s, but not realised until the 1990s, echoing just how timeless Valentino's designs are.

My girlfriends and I all came away saying there was little in there that we woudn't wear... they were all SO stunning, made with the most luxuorious fabric and would make us feel a million dollars. He really is a Master.

Valentino: Master of Couture, 10am - 6pm, at Somerset House until 3rd March
